PS4 Safe Mode is used to troubleshoot PS4 problems, as after using PS4 for a long time, some errors may appear that interfere with the normal operation of the console.

This article has all the information you need to know about PS4 Safe Mode

About Safe Mode

Safe Mode launches the PS4 system with basic functions active. You can enable this mode if you are unable to turn on the PS4 console or when errors occur on the PS4 system.

Thanks to certain options in Safe Mode, you will be able to solve various issues with your PS4.

However, keep in mind that some safe mode options may result in data loss, so you should always back up your PS4 system data to an external source. Sony's official website states that Safe Mode is intended to address various PS4 firmware issues and should be used whenever recommended by PlayStation Support or Sony Support.

How to enable it

To put your PS4 into Safe Mode, simply follow these simple steps:

1. Turn off your system by PS4pressing the power button on the front of the console.

2. Thereafter, hold the power button and, as soon as you hear the second beep, release the button, after that, the message "Connect DUALSHOCK 4 using a USB cable" should appear on the screen. Just press the PS button and, asit says in the instructions, connect the DualShock 4 (PS4 controller) using the USB cable to the console.

3. Now press the PS button on your controller again, and subsequently,, you should see the safe mode menu screen.

How to turn it off

If you are trapped in a Safe Mode loop, there are several ways to get your PS4 out of Safe Mode.

1. Restarting PS4 allows you to take your PS4 out of Safe Mode and restart your PS4 system normally.

2. Try selecting the Change Resolution option and setting the PS4 display resolution to 480P by default. It can help you fix PS4 display screen problems.

If you have a problem with HDMI connection between PS4 and TV, you can choose a higher resolution 1080P for your 720P TV.

After you exit Safe Mode and bring it back to Normal at 480P, go to the settings menu to set the correct resolution.

3. Try updating the system software manually using direct boot, USB stick or disk.

4. Try selecting the Restore Defaults option to fix some potential issues with your PS4. This will not wipe your PS4 data, as it is not a full factory reset.

5. Try to restore the database, it will scan your PS4 drive and create a new database of all content on your PS4 system. It will help you deal with issues like freezing PS4 games or dropping frame rates. This method is likely to take a long time, depending on the type and number of data items.

6. You can also initialize your PS4; however, this option will delete all data from your PS4 game and all other content, including your system settings. Therefore, you must first make a backup of all data or create a disk image.

7. Try setting the HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) mode, which is used to encrypt the HDMI video content from the HD video device.

You can protect your gameplay at any time, restore all the necessary information from the PS4 hard drive using a special third-party application.
