Here is everything you need to know about OTG connection

Here you will find out:

  • about OTG connection
  • how DiskInternals can help you

Are you ready? Let's read!

OTG simply means On-The-Go, it refers to a technology that allows you to connect USB flash drives to a mobile phone to access or transfer files in-between the devices (your phone and the flash drive). Not all Android devices support OTG, and here’s how to check if yours support the technology.

How To Check For USB OTG

Basically, your device manual will clearly state if your phone supports OTG or not. But, if you can’t find the manual, you could check through the settings page or using an OTG checker. More so, if you insert a USB OTG drive to your device, you’d get a prompt to activate OTG connections (if your device supports the technology).

How To Use OTG?

There are many things you could do with OTG; if your device supports the technology, you could connect a USB hub, flash drive, and other portable devices directly to your phone to transfer and receive data. Depending on your device, there could be a lot of things you can do with OTG support.

Keeping Your Data Safe

Whether your device supports OTG or not, it is important that you regularly create backups to keep your important documents safe and handy. One way to do this is by using DiskInternals Uneraser to create disk images, which act as local backup copies of your main storage.

DiskInternals Uneraser can read various kinds of devices, including USB flash drives and other portable storage devices. It is an advanced, professional tool preferred by IT experts for over 15 years and still counting. This software solution is primarily a data recovery tool, but integrates a feature that lets you clone your storage drives in the form of “Disk Images.”

With the DiskInternals Uneraser software, you can create multiple disk images for free, and mount them back at any time. If you need to recover your lost and deleted files, this software tool can also help you to do that; however, before you can finalize recovering your files (that is, saving the lost files back to your PC), you need to upgrade to the paid version.

To backup your files using DiskInternals Uneraser, follow the guide below:

  • Install the software on your PC and launch it
  • Close the Wizard that would pop-up automatically
  • Select the drive you want to backup (if it is your flash drive, connect it to the computer and select it from the "Select Disk" interface)
  • Right-click on the drive and choose “Create Image”
  • Now, follow the subsequent prompts to complete the backup process.

Note: You cannot save the Disk Image version of a drive in the same drive. For example, if you’re backing up your flash drive, you would have to choose another storage drive as the location to save the disk image (backup copy) of the flash drive.

DiskInternals Uneraser is pretty easy to use - even without tutorials, thanks to the file-explorer-like interface.
