How to Make Windows 10, 11 Run Faster

Here you will find out:

  • methods of how to make Windows 10, 11 faster
  • when DiskInternals can help you

Are you ready? Let's read!

Step 1. Make Start Menu transparent

If you do not know how to make Windows 10, 11 faster, then, first of all, pay attention to the Start menu. It differs significantly from previous versions of Windows, mainly due to the scale and number of additional options. And all this requires additional energy resources. If you disable this option of the Start menu, the system will noticeably accelerate. In the Computer Settings, go to the Personalization section. Then you need to select the Colors tab, and here deactivate all unnecessary parameters (action center, Start, etc.).

Then restart the computer and pay attention to its activity; it should become a little faster.

Step 2. What is in your startup?

In Windows 10, 11, a lot of programs and applications start automatically when the system boots. This can be good only if they do not interfere and do not affect computer performance. Otherwise, you need to deactivate the automatic download of unnecessary applications, and this will free up additional resources for the computer.

In the Task Manager, go to Startup and disable the most useless tasks with the right mouse button. After that, it is best to restart the computer.

Step 3. Correct power settings

Look in the settings at what type of energy-saving plan you have; maybe you should correct it.

First of all, it all depends on whether you have a desktop computer or a laptop.

In the first case, it is better to choose High-Performance Mode, since there is no point in fearing for the battery.

If you have a laptop, then it’s better to select Balanced; that is, balanced between speed and battery life.

In some cases, for example, when the laptop battery runs out quickly and cannot be connected to a power source, you can temporarily select Energy Saver. At the same time, keep in mind that the laptop will slow down and perform actions slowly.

Step 4. Turn off all unnecessary animations and special effects

This will help you speed up your Windows 10, 11 computer without creating additional problems.

Right-click on This PC and select the last Properties tab. Then, on the left, select Advanced system settings. In a new window, click on the Advanced button. Then refer to the Performance section and click Options. Then open the Visual Effects tab and select the most suitable parameters there, and also deactivate unnecessary special effects; then click Apply and OK.

Step 5. Run Disk Cleanup

You can automatically clear the disk of unnecessary junk using this pre-installed program. It can be found in the search bar by typing "Disk Cleanup" on the keyboard. Then just run it and calmly wait for the process to complete.

After that, restart the computer and you will notice that it has become even faster.

Step 6. Use ReadyBoost

This method will make your Windows 10, 11 computer faster without adding RAM.

It will require a high-speed flash drive with 500 MB or more free space. Connect it to the computer. Then open it with the right mouse and select Properties. You will need the ReadyBoost section; activate it. It happens that some flash drives are not suitable for this method; do not worry, in this case, you will receive a notification. If everything went fine, you can see in Explorer how much extra space was created as a result of this procedure.

Remember: with SSDs, this method will be inefficient.

Step 7. Disable search indexing

This method is better suited specifically for SSDs, as daily indexing can ultimately lead to system slowdown. In this case, turn it off and you won’t lose anything. In the Services section, select "indexing services", and then click Stop. All this must be confirmed by rebooting the system.

If you still don’t know how to make Windows 10, 11 run faster or the results still do not suit you, try the following steps and you will succeed.

Step 8. No tips, no tricks

Windows 10, 11 constantly gives you tips that can slow down your computer. Most likely, you can do without these tips, so just turn off their automatic appearance and you will notice how the computer has become more responsive.

Step 9. Get more RAM

For a regular desktop computer or laptop, this method will probably be the most effective. You will fork out a little money, but you will certainly be happy with the result. If you are the owner of an ultrabook or something similar, this method will, unfortunately, be useless for you.

Step 10. Change your HDD to SSD

Everyone knows that an SSD is much more productive and faster than an HDD, so this replacement can significantly speed up a Windows 10, 11 laptop. In addition, moving all your applications will not be difficult through the Store. Think about this sentence.

Step 11. Low disk space?

In this case, you need to free up space. The Storage Sense utility deletes files even from the Recycle Bin, while it can also work periodically, which you can set yourself.

Step 12. Use OneDrive

Saving data to OneDrive also allows you to unload your computer and thereby increase the free space on your computer. With OneDrive, you can access data anywhere in the world and at any time when connected to the Internet. It is very convenient and efficient. If synchronization with the computer will slow down the latter, just turn it off when this data is not needed.

In this case, there will be no performance problems.

Step 13. If you've accidentally deleted some files

Do not worry, by installing DiskInternals Uneraser you will forget about this misunderstanding very soon. The program will recover any files in a short time.

The recovery wizard will help you with any question that may arise, and will also accompany you when exporting files to a new information storage device. The Preview function is completely free, even in the licensed version of the program.

The program runs on Windows 7, 8, 10 and above, and the rest of the technical specifications are standard, so there is nothing to worry about. Download the application and return all lost data with confidence and comfort.
